We are independent and partner-owned. Every principal at Caines has personal capital invested alongside the families we serve. That alignment is the reason the firm is structured the way it is, and our backgrounds span direct investing, infrastructure and public markets.
We are Caines, a London multi-family office for families whose wealth has become a business of its own.
Caines was founded to manage capital for a small group of families whose wealth no longer fit within standard private banking products. Today we manage capital for a limited number of families from our London office.
Family
Sets long-term objectives and approves mandate-level decisions. Keeps strategic control of the capital and its purpose.
Caines Principals
Translate objectives into recommendations and lead execution. Act as the family’s point of accountability for day-to-day decisions and ongoing oversight.
Investment Committee
Brings formal challenge and discipline to major allocations and new positions. Ensures that decisions are consistent with the agreed mandate over time.
Each family at Caines is paired with two principals: one for investment, one for the wider relationship. The principals stay for the life of the engagement. The portfolio adapts as the family does.
Behind the principals sits an investment team organised by capability. We have specialists in operating-company diligence, in infrastructure, in public markets and in the structuring work that holds the whole picture together.
Decisions are made by an investment committee that meets regularly, with additional meetings whenever a position requires it.
How an Engagement Begins
1. First Conversation
A confidential discussion led by one of the principals, focused on the family’s capital and the structures already in place.
2. Reviewing the Existing Picture
We assess current holdings, reporting lines, advisers and decision-making arrangements.
3. Defining the Mandate
We agree the scope of the work, decision rights, liquidity parameters and reporting cadence.
4. Implementation
Portfolio management and reporting are put in place in stages.
5. Ongoing Rhythm
The relationship settles into a regular pattern of review and execution.
